Granola crumbs, a healthy vegan version without badsugar


Granola Crumbs are great addition to top smoothies, yogurts, parfaits, and also great way to add minerals, good fats and fibre to those options.

The advantage of making your own Granola is that you can avoid process sugar and canola oil or palm oil that is often added to store bought granola products.

Here is our recipe for you:

  1. 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  2. 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  3. 1/2 cup pistachio (you can skip if you don't have it :))
  4. 1/2 cup whole almonds
  5. 1/2 cup pecans
  6. 1 cup oat
  7. 1 tsp cinnamon (if you don't like cinnamon taste skip)
  8. 1/2 cup date syrup
  9. 2 tsp Himalayan or sea salt 
  10. 3 tbs coconut oil
  11. coconut oil to grease the baking pan

Note: you can skip any of the nuts that you don't like and instead increase the other nut volume.

Method:

  • In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients
  • add all the wet ingredients and mix well
  • Grease your baking pan or silicone baking sheet
  • Spread the mix to 1 inch thickness
  • Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes checking until golden
  • Note: keep an eye on the baking as it can burn fast
  • Remove and let cool completely
  • break into desired size crumbs
  • store in air tight container- can last 2-3 months
